WORKSHOPS: A limited number of pianists and percussionists will be chosen to participate in five days of masterclasses given each morning Monday through Friday, June 16 - 20, from 10am to 1pm in Williams Hall at New England Conservatory. Participants will be coached by Stephen Drury, members of the SICPP faculty, and guest artist Aki Takahashi on a broad range of repertoire from the last 100 years. Selected pianists will be aaccepted into the Ensemble Program and assigned to chamber groups which will rehearse in the afternoons; those pianists not participating in the Ensemble Program will receive private lessons from members of the piano faculty. (Click here for a list of repertoire suggestions.) Auditors, who do not perform in the morning classes, are also welcome, and may arrange to schedule lessons during the week with the SICPP faculty at NEC Summer School’s standard rate. Selected students will be invited to perform on the final evening concert. (see CONCERT SERIES) Click here for a complete list of faculty and artist bios. |

ENSEMBLE PROGRAM:
For the first time this year, SICPP is also accepting a limited number
of vocalists into the Ensemble Program. Vocalists will work with
a chamber group as well as work with special guest faculty Pamela Wood.
Instrumentalists other than pianists and percussionists are invited to
apply to the SICPP Ensemble Program. Ten instrumentalists will be
selected to prepare and perform contemporary chamber music under the
direction of SICPP artistic director Stephen Drury. Music will be
mailed out in late May; groups formed from the pool of applicants will
also include members of the Callithumpian Consort who will direct and
coach the ensemble as well as perform in it. Ensembles will also
perform works by invited composers (see Call for Scores). All music
will be performed at the final Saturday marathon concert.
